Now that the Glacier Point Road is open, Yosemite National Park visitors have an opportunity to get a true bird's-eye view of the Ahwiyah Point rock fall that took place in late March of this year. This was an event that changed the look of Yosemite Valley forever, and drives home the point of the rate of geologic change, even on a human time scale.
Many thanks to Doug Nelson, photographer of the image of the slide, taken a few days ago. The top photo was from a 2005 visit to Glacier Point by my field studies class.
