I was 'enjoying' another discussion with one of my students in lab this afternoon, and I ended up on Google Earth, checking out another of the many fun things that show up while exploring the surface of the planet. Who can tell me what it is? This isn't a contest, and I know the answer, but I want to read what y'all think...
Had to put on my 3D specs from Avatar to finally "see" the boat hull. I can see how the 1959 aerial image of the site might have prompted speculation, but I cannot understand how the formation was still considered to be the remains of a boat hull AFTER initial investigations. Sigh....
ReplyDeleteIs it a good thing that young bible-thumpers are taking geology classes but do so as close-minded nit-wits? I mean, they must learn SOMETHING, right? Or do they just take the classes as a way to "know thine enemy"?
Clearly, it's Noah's Ark. Right?
ReplyDelete... What, are you going to tell me it's some sort of doubly-plunging syncline?
I was thinking a fold of some sort, myself - you're saying I'm supposed to see an Ark? Then I'd have to say folded or distorted ark.
ReplyDeleteArk????? What ark??? It's the remains of an ancient pod of whales thrown out of the ocean by the eruption from the volcano on Mars.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with backarc.
ReplyDeleteBackarc is the best explanation yet. ;)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Word verification "thiffl" reminds me of piffle!
