Or that a random fault you find is dead. (That was held for a long time in the Pacific Northwest with respect to cascadia). Or on a shorter time frame building on beachfront land in the East, knowing that a Hurricane, or in some places a winter storm could wipe your property out. <br /><br />So denial is a common human reaction.
